Video Game Live is the biggest and most popular video game concert in the world and they debut in Singapore last friday! Marc and I got to watch the concert as VIPs as Animax was the Official Broadcast Sponsor of the event! The seats that we got were worth more than a 100 dollars each. As VIPs, we even got treated to a buffet spread at the VIP lounge before the concert started.Marketing sure has its perks!
The concept of the show was pretty cool.  The power & emotion of a symphony orchestra was mixed with the excitement and energy of a rock concert. The video screen visuals and state-of-the-art lighting were also cleverly synchronised with the music!
I guess the biggest draw  for the video games fanatics were the songs played. The NUS symphonic band and choir played many popular video games sound tracks from past to present, including Mario, Halo, Final Fantasy, WarCraft, Sonic, Metal Gear Solid, Interactive Space Invaders, Diablo III, Metroid, Pac-Man, Kingdom Hearts, Castlevania, Zelda.
For me the best act of the night was the special performance by Martin Leung- the video game pianist! The speed at which his fingers moved across the keyboard was simply out of this world.Do go check him out at www.videogamepianist.com!
