Its the people that matters..
Who hasn’t heard horror stories of internship where the poor intern gets exploited and yelled down at as if they were merely dogs? Maybe i am exaggerating it but cases of interns being made to sort out thousands of database, stock take and do mundane research are not uncommon. Thus prior to my internship i mentally prepared myself for the worst. Thankfully, people around me were far from the evil exploiter i imagined.
Michelle, the HR executive was quick to help me settle in. She gave me a thorough tour of the office on the first day at work. She also patiently explained the operational process and introduced me to people who i would probably encounter with during my stay. Upon reaching my desk, i found that stationeries had been laid out nicely for me and that i even had my own personal computer and phone! Everything was so efficiently done and by the end of the day, i had my “tap” card ready, my printer connected and access to the intranet. Its these small things that made me feel like i was welcomed.
The Animax marketing team has been really friendly and helpful too! They have given me lots of support and taking time to explain things slowly to me. Really grateful for all the time and effort they have taken to guide me despite their tight and almost insane( they are best multi-taskers i have ever seen!) schedule.
In the first week, I got to attend a client meeting (CosFest’09) ,the General Animax team meeting and the sign-off meeting ( where the programs team tell the marketing team the program line-up for 2 months later).
Its been one week but I really feel at home here and i am sure that with the guidance of my supervisors, i am sure to learn a lot!
